The Junior Paddle Battle site is expected to be live by Monday, May 26, 2025.

The Junior Paddle Battle will offer FREE Kayak lessons to Portsmouth youth ages 8-14 who have passed an organized swim class or program or who can prove swim competency by some other method acceptable to the Junior Paddle Battle.

 

In order to broaden the number of potential participants, the Junior Paddle Paddle has partnered with the Portsmouth YMCA and the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority to allow eligible PRHA youth residents to receive free swim lessons from the Y. Are you a PRHA youth resident, or a parent of one, who wants to join in our free swim and kayak lessons? Stay tuned for information on how sign up for your free swim lessons. Once you complete the swim lesson you will be given a certificate which you can use to register for the Junior Paddle Battle.

Do you already know how to swim and can provide proof of having passed a swim class, then stay tuned for the Junior Paddle Battle registration to open on June 1.

We will have only 36 spaces open this year, while we work out how to create a terrific -- and safe -- youth experience on the water, so sign up early!
